RSGB ISLANDS ON THE AIR

John Butcher G3LAS, Chairman of the IOTA Committee. Retired University Professor of Microelectronics and Semiconductor Device Physics. Licensed in 1956, RSGB member since 1954. Spent many years on VHF and UHF bands, followed by a period of inactivity until "born again" as a keen DX-er in 1995. Now active on all the HF bands, 160 to 6m, chasing DXCC (339), IOTA (850), US counties (2876) etc. on ssb, cw and rtty. Ex-member of RAFARS (G8FC) and Cambridge University (G6UW) radio clubs. Currently member of the RSGB Spectrum Forum and HF Convention Organising Committee. IOTA checkpoint for England (G0 and M0 calls), the rest of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and all British SWLs.

Martin Atherton G3ZAY first licensed in 1969. Martin is a former RSGB HF Manager and HF Committee Chairman and is a life member of Cambridge University Wireless Society. Main interests include SSB Dxing and has been active from the Canadian Arctic.

Roger Balister G3KMA IOTA Manager. Born in 1938 and first licensed in 1955, Roger has managed the IOTA Programme since March 1985 when the RSGB took on responsibility for administering it at the request of its founder Geoff Watts. He retired in 1991 from a career in Government Service, spent first in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and then in the Department of Trade and Industry where for five years he was responsible for the setting of amateur radio licence fees! Outside IOTA Roger's interests are DXCC where he has all current DXCC entities except P5 confirmed both on SSB and CW (333 with 368 confirmed all-time) and 9 band DXing where he has a score of over 2800 current band 'entities' including 250 on Top Band.

Mauro Pregliasco I1JQJ IOTA Committee Member. Born in 1959 and married to Valeria (IK1ADH) has been active on the amateur radio bands since 1980 and has served in the IOTA Committee since 1994. Mauro holds 5BWAZ, 5BDXCC, the IOTA 1000 Trophy and has all of the DXCC Entities confirmed on SSB (still missing P5 on CW and 9 Entities on RTTY). An ARI HQ member since 1998, he also edits the very popular "425 DX News", and in May 2007 he was inducted along with Valeria into the CQ DX Hall of Fame.

Steve Lawman GØUIH Webmaster www.rsgbiota.org - born 1959 and licensed since 1992. Enjoys activating IOTA references whenever possible. Also licensed as 3D2FI (Fiji) & VK2IAY (Australia) and has activated 8 Pacific Island Groups as a solo DXpeditioner within the past 3 years. Enjoys HF SSB, with over 900 IOTA Groups confirmed and with P5 worked on 3 bands and 2 modes. Also interested in digimodes, homebrew antenna design and construction.
